Giving the Gift of CBD

As this hectic year comes to a close the season of giving is upon us & the brainstorming of gifts for our loved ones begins. We search and comb through sites trying to find the perfect gift for someone–typically one that the person will end up using for years to come.
Whether you think CBD is just a trend or use it in your everyday life, the cannabinoid has demonstrated amazing beneficial properties in scientific studies for people from all walks of life. Its potential to positively influence a person’s wellness has been echoed from recent academic studies and centuries of use.Â
Now with the wide range and availability of CBD products and benefits, it’s the perfect time to find the right fit for your loved one to help them start the new year off relaxed and relieved.Â
Â
Who will love it?Â
From your local gym flexer to your grandparents, CBD’s versatility to alleviate a wide range of symptoms from minor muscle discomfort to arthritis to seizures is just one of the many reasons the cannabinoid has become so popular. The National Cancer Institute (NCI) even acknowledges CBD as an effective treatment to reduce nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, and other cancer-related symptoms for patients undergoing chemotherapy.Â
In addition to its relieving physical symptoms, CBD’s anti-psychotic properties can reduce anxiety making it an ideal gift for anybody you know that has come out of this year barely hanging on (so any parent that’s been working remotely while schooling their kids). CBD’s anti-anxiety effects also create the perfect calm before bed for your overworked friends and family that deserve a good night’s rest.Â
Essentially CBD has a use for everyone since its main objective is homeostasis–to balance out our biological and neurological functions. The non psychoactive cannabinoid’s abilities stem from its interaction with our endocannabinoid system, which is inside every animal with a backbone so it can even be used on pets! A 100% natural solution for any friends with an overly excited pup or an older furry friend that could use some relaxation.Â
Â
How exactly does it work?Â
CBD has demonstrated its effectiveness in alleviating inflammation, seizures, nausea, and potentially even inhibiting cancer cells from migrating in scientific studies. But how exactly does it work?
Cannabidiol (CBD) is an organic molecule that is absorbed into your system via your endocannabinoid system which has cannabinoid receptors that are activated when CBD enters your bloodstream. The endocannabinoid system (ECS) is a physiological system that is located throughout a person’s or animal’s body, including the skin and brain.Â
The ECS serves to maintain balance within the body by producing naturally occurring endocannabinoid molecules, such as anandamide (AEA) and 2-AG, that complete daily functions, such as proliferation, skin cell growth, differentiation, hormone production, etc. When CBD is introduced into your endocannabinoid system it enhances specific functions of the targeted area.Â
Â
What should I get them?Â
Every CBD user has a different preference for how they consume their CBD. It’s usually based around their condition and preferred technique of consumption. CBD can be applied topically, ingested, absorbed through your sublingual duct, vaporized, smoked, and a number of other methods.Â
Â
Topicals
The least intrusive and most welcoming to new CBD users are topicals. They are simply applied as a lotion and the CBD is absorbed through the skin’s epidermis. Our Extra Strength Salve relieves muscles aches and is refreshingly moisturizing so it’s super popular with people who live an active lifestyle— or are just sore after sitting at a desk for 8 hours! It’s effective immediately after being thoroughly massaged into the skin.Â
Our salve has a revitalizing lemongrass scent and is great for massages that’ll have you melting. Spas throughout Virginia Beach actually offer our CBD salves as an option for massages including Natural Balance Spa & Yoga, Salt & Light Massage, and more! We also offer Regular Strength Salve which contains less CBD for less severe conditions.Â
Â
Sublingual
Sublingual, also known as CBD oil, is placed under the tongue for 60 to 90 secs to be fully absorbed by our sublingual ducts. The calming effect is pretty instantaneous and can be used for anxiety and/or inflammation. The spectrum of the product also greatly influences the effect it will have.Â
Isolate– Ideal for those who do not interact well with THC (which is psychoactive). Has no terpenes, oils, flavonoids. 99.9% pure CBD.Â
Broad Spectrum– Contains all the naturally occurring cannabinoids of the hemp plant except THC. Our partner processor naturally separates the THC from the CBD extract during the extraction process. THC reports as “non-detectable” on our COAs. A good medium between the two spectrums.
Full Spectrum- Contains <0.3% THC. Potential to achieve the synergistic entourage effect with the mix of all the naturally occurring cannabinoids. Favored for those with more severe conditions. Â Sublinguals do have a distinct taste and may not be for your loved ones that dislike the earthy aftertaste it has, however it can be added to your coffee, sauces, etc for those who are picky!Â
Â
Edibles & Capsules
CBD edibles come in a variety of options including but not limited to gummies, chocolates, coffee, sparkling water, etc. They are great for beginners and are a special way to treat yourself after a long day of work. Ingestibles last longer than other consumption methods however, they do have a delayed response since they go through the digestive tract to enter your bloodstream. Both capsules and edibles have a lower bioavailability and absorption rate since they must be processed through the liver before taking effect, whereas with sublinguals and smoking the CBD immediately enters the bloodstream.
Â
Vaporizing/Smoking
This is the best consumption method for those who already prefer smoking. When CBD flower and vape oil is absorbed through your lungs into your bloodstream–it has a pretty instantaneous effect. Our artisan grown CBD flower is being released soon but our 70-90% CBD Distillate can be vaporized or heated as a dab!Â
Â
Concentrates
Concentrates can also be similar to ingestibles in the way they’re consumed and absorbed. They can be added to your tea, cookies, or any other recipe to make it a CBD treat. Our 70-90% CBD Distillate and 99% CBD Isolate are essentials in DIY CBD recipes, so a great gift for any cooks! Â
